Ag Week 2018

Ag Week 2018 comes to campus this Saturday, April 21, and runs through April 28 with the annual luau on May 2.

Every year, the SUNY Cobleskill Agricultural Council and its participating clubs put on a series of events during Ag Week to celebrate and promote agriculture. The entire campus community is invited to participate. For Ag Olympics, participate as a club or team across the four events—club or team with highest overall point score wins!

This year’s events include:

Wednesday, April 18

Pre-Ag Week Breakfast Sandwich Giveaway
7:45 – 10am, in front of Twisted Whiskers
Come by and get a free breakfast sandwich featuring ingredients from Schoharie County farms, sponsored by Ag Council

Saturday, April 21

37th Annual Dairy Fashions Sale
Begins at 11am at Cobleskill Fairgrounds

Sunday, April 22

Special Guest Speaker: Eric Rutkow “Proposing the Future: How America Traded Arbor Day for Earth Day, and What This Means for Us Now”
2pm in Frisbie 200
Eric Rutkow is a writer, lawyer, and professor who teaches history at Yale University. His first book, American Canopy: Trees, Forests, and the Making of a Nation (Scribner, 2012), was named one of the top ten books of 2012 by Smithsonian magazine and received the Association of American Publisher’s PROSE award for U.S. History. A forthcoming book, The Longest Line on the Map: The United States, the Pan-American Highway, and the Quest to Link the Americas, is based off his prize-winning PhD dissertation and will be published with Scribner this Fall. Before earning his doctorate, Rutkow practiced as an environmental human rights lawyer in Cambodia and as a junior associate with Latham & Watkins LLC in New York. He received his BA and PhD from Yale and his JD from Harvard.
